v56.spark
Free · open · 895 innovations and counting — built with the industry

The best ideas rarely arrive with fanfare. The worst ones almost always do.

v56.spark is an open, shared database for AEC innovation. We bring what's out there into the light — products, materials, design solutions — and give the industry the means to weigh it. What's claimed, what's on the evidence, what your peers actually think. We don't hand down verdicts. We make it possible for you to reach one.

no.shortage.of.innovation

AEC produces an enormous amount of bold ideas.
Now there's an honest way to research and collaborate with them.

Every season brings new materials, systems, and strategies. Spark gives them a place to be found, researched and weighed together — the claim, the evidence on record, and the view from the industry, side by side. Real value gets the room to emerge, judged by the evidence and your peers rather than by us.

Carbon-negativeWhat they say

Bio-composite cladding panel

Sequesters 40 kg CO₂ per m² over a 60-year lifecycle. Industry-first biogenic carbon accounting methodology. Shipping Q2.

Carbon claim: ProvidedLifecycle figure: Refuted

Bio-composite cladding panel

2 evidence sources on record. Biogenic carbon sequestration is documented; the 40 kg/m² lifecycle figure is challenged — double-counted end-of-life assumptions, not yet independently corroborated. You decide what that's worth.

InnDex (AI) 48 autoInnDex (Community) 61 14 votes

Signals still converging — the community sees more here than the evidence yet shows.

the.model

Two signals. One number. A journey to consensus.

Every record carries an InnDex — a 0–100 read on how proven it is. It comes in two forms. InnDex (AI) is generated automatically and evolves as evidence and new information accrue. InnDex (Community) compounds the scores members submit themselves. They rarely agree at first. When they converge, you're looking at consensus.

InnDex (AI)auto-generated

Built from the evidence on record and real-world deployment. Moves as new proof surfaces — never a fixed verdict.

InnDex (Community)member-voted

Compounds the scores practitioners give from real use. The industry's own read, next to the machine's.

every.claim.has.a.standing

Claimed

A benefit asserted by the maker. The starting point — not proof.

Provided

Evidence submitted and on record — documents, data, real deployments.

Refuted

Challenged by the community, or contradicted by other evidence.

Not everything is built yet.

A product is read on proof. A design solution or an idea isn't deployed yet — so it's read forward, on the value it could bring if pursued. That's the Vindex, and it drives a simpler badge.

Trust it

Strong value if pursued — worth backing now.

Watch it

Real potential — worth watching how it develops.

Dream about it

Early or unrated — exciting, not yet demonstrated.

the.scope

We made a hard call.

Spark covers physical building innovation only — products, design solutions, and strategies that become or shape the building itself.

the.ask

This is a seed. The database is yours to build.

The 895 records here are a showcase — proof of what Spark can do. The real value comes when the industry brings its own: manufacturers submitting products and the evidence behind them, practitioners scoring what they've actually used, peers challenging what doesn't hold up. We're building this in the open. We need you in it.

Are you a manufacturer? Submitting your product and its evidence moves a claim from Claimed to Provided — in full view of the industry.

the.questions

What v56.spark is, in plain terms.

What is v56.spark?
An open, shared database for AEC innovation. Products, materials and design solutions, with what is claimed about them, the evidence on record, and how the industry scores them. It is free to search and free to join.
How does the InnDex score work?
Every record carries an InnDex, a 0 to 100 read on how proven something is. It comes in two forms. The AI score is built from the evidence on record and real deployment. The community score compounds what practitioners report from real use. When the two converge, you are looking at consensus.
What is the difference between InnDex and Vindex?
InnDex reads a product on proof, because it is already built. A design solution or an early idea is not deployed yet, so it is read forward on the value it could bring if pursued. That forward read is the Vindex.
What is in scope for v56.spark?
Physical building innovation. Materials, structural systems, building fabric, HVAC and environmental strategies, low-carbon systems, acoustics, lighting, MEP and facades. Project management software, BIM tools, construction methods, procurement and funding schemes sit outside it.
Is v56.spark free?
Yes. Searching the catalogue is free, and joining to score or submit a product costs nothing. Spark gets more useful the more the industry puts into it.
How is it different from a product directory?
A directory lists what makers say about themselves. Spark puts the claim next to the evidence and the view from the industry, and never hands down a verdict of its own. You reach your own.
